Experience Overview

The Ateshgah Fire Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage tentative site, is a castle-like complex in Baku’s suburb of Surakhany . Built during the 17th and 18th centuries, it uniquely served as a place of worship for Hindu, Sikh, and Zoroastrian pilgrims . The pentagonal complex features a courtyard surrounded by monastic cells and a central tetrapillar-altar where a flame once burned continuously from natural gas vents . Today, the site is a museum that preserves and explains this fascinating intersection of cultures and fire-worshipping traditions

Highlights of the Experience

  • Iconic flame-altar symbolizing the four holy elements of fire, air, water, and earth
